“Anti-Asian hate Crime” going on in Canada?Really?

When is an “Anti-Asian hate Crime” not an “Anti-Asian hate Crime”? The answer: “When the arrested suspect criminal is also an Asian!”.

On March 24, 2021 it was reported that a man has been charged by the York Regional Police in connection with six anti-Asian hate crimes in Markham. Police said a suspect ran up behind the female victim and hit her in the back with some sort of object. This assault took place in the area of Pillar Rock Crescent at around 2 p.m. on March 16.

Between January and March 2021 the suspect spit at an Asian victim in one case. Another incident allegedly involved the suspect bumping into someone intentionally while walking down the street. The suspect also made a number of harassing statements and comments to two victims.

Almost immediately, the Mayor of Markham Frank Scarpitti jumped on the bandwagon and issued a Press Release saying he was deeply disturbed and disgusted by the reported incidents under a heading of “Anti-Asian Hate Crime”. Amazingly, this document has since disappeared from the Internet even though its content was widely reported by the media. What is interesting is the name of the suspect released by the police – a 33 year old person named “Arjun Choudhari”.

Unless I have mistaken, the suspect's name is very “Asian”. Of course, it is possible that he is a white male adopted by an Indian family (however unlikely). It makes no sense to magnify these incidents as a series of “Anti-Asian hate crimes” running rampant in Markham when they are committed by another Asian. Unfortunately, the latest wave of “Anti-Asian crime report” originating from incidents in the United States has invaded Canada and dragging it into the vortex created by the media.

It is also interesting to see that “Black Lives Matter” organizations are not involved in helping their Asian brothers and sisters in any meaningful ways. We all know that Canada is very different from the United States when it comes to racial tolerance. Canada promotes multiculturalism with its population largely made up of immigrants from all over the world and has not fostered a “melting pot” mentality. Inevitably, this will achieve better “racial harmony” than the United States.

Another aspect we must examine is the name used by the media - “Anti-Asian”. Is this really true? Have they given us the detailed statistics? What is the percentage of Chinese people in this Asian group? Is that (Chinese) figure disproportionately large when compared to the other Asian groups within the statistics when the absolute population figures of each group are considered? No one from the Media wants to answer these questions.

To call this crime wave what it is - “Anti-Chinese hate crime”, is a taboo. No one wants to call a spade a spade for the simple reason. To do so will be bringing in a controversy – the truth that people want to blame the culprit of the COVID-19 virus and its origin from China! This will also draw the wrath of the CCP and will hurt the “feelings” of the “Chinese people”. So much money and effort were spent over the last year to whitewash the name “Wuhan” and disassociation of it with the name of the coronavirus will then go down the drain.

Even worse, some politicians in Downtown Toronto also want to gain some “political chips” on this topic and suggest campaigns to deal with “Anti-Asian hate crimes” when there are next to none in that area. Not having a clue with what to do, their initial thoughts are to do something similar to "support small business" sign campaigns where business owners place a sign in their window. They also want to develop some graphics and posters for online sharing.

In summary, many suspect that CCP is behind this matter in yet another effort to solidify support and nourish patriotism from Chinese diasporas in the United States and Canada. In a recent rally, surrogate organizations were mobilized to fight “Anti-Asian hate crimes”. By doing so, they reluctantly exposed their political positions and affiliations with the CCP to Canadians.

There are no “Anti-Asian hate crimes” in Canada. There may be increases in “Anti-Chinese hate crimes” over the last year due to the coronavirus pandemic and some people's perception of the origin of the viruses from the City of Wuhan, China. Let us stop perpetuating distortions, be honest and state the truth in the Media!
