再次当选的特鲁多能替华裔民主势力撑腰？

加国华裔中的民主之声一直笼罩在中国政府制造的恐惧氛围之中，但再次当选的自由党政府会让他们的恐惧感进一步加深。

Pro-democracy Chinese Canadians have been living in fears of the Chinese regime, and their concerns and worries will only get intensified under the re-elected Liberal government.

随着不断增长的经济和军事实力，中国不断利用海外华裔这一万能工具向加国施加影响力。同时中国政府的铁拳也日益挥向华裔中的异己势力，首当其中的要数维族华裔和那些不肯做中共走狗之人。被关押在新疆集中营的维族人士的亲属在加国过着胆战心惊的日子，他们不仅担忧在家乡被关押的亲人，也忧虑日后回国后自身的处境。而那些逃脱专制政权而奔赴民主加国的人士也受到日益增长的中共势力的威胁，他们不敢公开发表对共产党的不满，抗议中国政府的自由言论和集会权利也遭到限制。

With a growing economic and military might, China increasingly projects its influence in Canada – through its magic weapon, the overseas diaspora. Meanwhile, it has sought to silence different voices among ethnic Chinese -- from Uyghur nationalists to democrats. The regime's mass detention in Xinjiang China has put Uyghur students' life in Canada in limbo. They worry about the fate of their families back home and are concerned about their future. Many who flee the autocratic regime to pursue freedom in Canada also live in fear, with their critical voices to be silenced and rights for free protests restrained.



但是自由党政府却对这些“弱势民主群体”却从未伸出援助之手。其实，随着作为世界强国的中国不断向加拿大施展淫威，自由党政府并非没有认识到中国政府的丑恶嘴脸。在加拿大根据美国的要求逮捕了华为高管孟晚舟后，中国任意逮捕两名加国人质，后强加以莫须有的间谍罪名并使其在狱中遭受虐待。中国还禁止进口加国肉产品，并限制加国油菜籽和大豆的进口，使加国农民困境加剧。但自由党政府对中国的欺凌行径的反应却让人大跌眼镜，它不但不敢挺着腰板，伸张加国利益，反而屈服于中国压力并竭尽其讨好之能事。

 However, the Liberal government has offered limited or no support to these Chinese Canadians. Canada has increasingly seen the dark and bullying side of China, as it has frequently flexed its muscles at the middle powered country. China has arbitrarily detained two Canadians after Canada arrested Meng Wanzhou, heeding US requests. They face espionage charges and are subject to forms of torture. China has also banned Canadian imports of meat products and severely curbed purchases of Canadian canola seed and soybeans, leaving Canadian farmers struggling in a contracted agricultural sector. However, the Liberal government's reaction is appalling. It is bending to China's pressure and trying to appease to the bullying regime.



自从自由党2015年执政以来，加拿大就与中国建立了牢固的经济和贸易联系。几十年来，自由党的外交政策一直着眼于与这一专制国家发展更深层次的经济往来。中国的残酷报复行为却丝毫没有改变加拿大自由党政府的立场。他们却对这一残酷现实视而不见，依旧与中国政府眉来眼去，保持亲密关系。

The Liberal government had forged strong economic and trade ties with China since it took power in 2015. For a quarter of a century, the Liberals' foreign policies have focused on pursuing an even-deeper economic integration with the authoritarian state. China's brutal attack on Canada seems hardly changed the Liberal government's positions. It has turned a blind eye from the bitter reality and continued to seek a truce deal with Beijing.

近日来，自由党政府的军事部门派出114名运动员，57名教练和协助人员的强大代表团参加在中国举办的世界军人运动会。中国举办军人运动会之时，正值其为70年国庆庆典而举办了声势浩大的阅兵式之际。通过这一阅兵式，中国政府是在向世人展示其高速发展的新式装备和现代化武器。

Recently, the military department of the Liberal government sent a big delegation to the World Military Games -- a sporting competition in China, including 114 athletes, 57 coaches, and support staff. The game took place at a time when China's big military parade demonstrated to the world of its rapidly developing arsenal.



加拿大派队参加中国军人运动会增长了中国政府的狂妄自大心理，令其洋洋得意，兴奋不已。通过强大的宣传机器，中国政府向全世界高喊其外交政策的成功，并宣称中国没有因其倒行逆施而失去朋友。“自世界各地越来越多的朋友和我们结盟…… 我们的朋友将会遍天下”。

Beijing's boosted ego in the wake of the Canada’s participation in the game is evident. It excitedly announced that the Canadian delegation shows that Beijing is not losing friends.  Its propaganda machine goes into high gear, touting a successful foreign diplomatic policy. "The list of our friends is growing… In the future, we will have more and more friends in various fields." 

渥京派代表团的决定显然是在助长中国政府的威胁和霸权行径，不仅如此它还会伤及两名被中国关押的加国人质和他们的亲属，也会进一步压制加国的民主之声，让日后的中国更加放肆妄为，变本加厉地打压海外批评和反对之势力。自由党政府的做法引发了强烈的抵制和谴责浪潮，反对党和批评人士一致指责自由党的不齿行为，并呼吁加国抵制北京举办的冬季奥运会。

Ottawa's move has fueled Beijing's grotesque act of bullying and intimidation. It has, in turn, caused harm to two detained Canadians and their families and put the vulnerable pro-democratic voice in Canada in a more precarious state. It will empower the bully, allowing it to double down its efforts to crack down on any dissident forces from the overseas diaspora down the road. The backlash from pundits and oppositions ensued, accusing the Liberals' decision of being unacceptable and calling for a boycott of the next Olympic game in Beijing.



《大中报》曾在联邦大选前电邮自由党，问询它将采取何种措施保护支持民主的加国华裔，但联邦自由党从未对此做出回答。显然，在自由党政府再次执政的加拿大，中国会将进一步扩张的影响力带到加拿大，华裔民主人士应做好面对更为残酷现实的准备。

Chinese News had emailed the Liberal Party of Canada before the election, seeking its response on what measures it will take to protect the group of pro-democratic Chinese Canadians but has never received a response.  Independent voices in Canada should brace for a more chilling reality of China's influence under the re-elected Liberal government.
