China’s top insurance company targets B.C. retirement home chain in $1 billion acquisition deal

Despite the fact that China faces healthcare challenges to meet the need of rapidly greying population, AnBang, a massive Chinese insurance company owned by the offspring of China’ political elite, is making a $1 billion acquisition targeting B.C.’s biggest retirement home chain. The deal, which is currently under the federal’ government scrutiny, came at a time when the Canadian government is eager to attract foreign money and when AnBang is shifting the focus of its global shopping spree to the Canadian markets.
